Three more crews into World U23 finals
Following a successful opening day at the World U23 Championships yesterday, three more British crews are through to the finals of the event taking place in Amsterdam after today’s repechages.
They join the three crews who made finals yesterday with four more crews racing in semi-finals tomorrow.
The lightweight men’s quad of Stephen Feeney (Newcastle University), Richard Chambers (Oxford Brookes University), Doug Perrin (Cambridge University) and Chris Bartley (Notts Uni) were winners of their repechage this afternoon in a time of 6:08.18 just over a second ahead of Australia in second place – many might hope this is an omen for the Test match cricket this weekend.
The women’s and men’s fours both qualified for finals in second place in their repechages. Only the lightweight men’s double has so far missed out on the later stages of the event. They were fourth in their repechage today
The semi-finals of the World U23 Championships are on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Full results for the event can be found at: www.worldrowing.com
