GB Junior women’s eight qualifies for A Final
The GB Junior Team had its first Final A qualification today when the women’s eight won their repecharge by a length from the USA and they will now line up with the other five crews for Saturday’s final – the first time a British junior women’s eight has achieved this.
Britian’s other two repecharge contenders today narrowly missed progressing to the next stage. Nick Baker in the men’s single was edged out by just under a length from the semi-finals but still achieved a personal best time in this very tough and deep event.
The men’s coxed four were the wrong end of a photo finish from reaching their A Final in a blanket finish – the first two places went to Poland and Canada with the British boat just 900ths of a second off qualifying. They will contend the Final B on Saturday.
GB Juniors have four boats racing in Friday’s semi-finals, the men’s eight, quad and four and the women’s quad, three of whom won their heats yesterday. In each of the semi-finals the first three crews will qualify for the A Finals.
