Jacky Silk – South East (Coast – Dover)
Jacky Silk, Club Welfare Officer, Treasurer and Club Secretary at Dover Rowing Club! And the South East Coast’s nomination for Volunteer of the Year.
‘Jacky has been club secretary for a number of years and brings to the club her work skills of being very organised and very professional, which enables us to manage the club successfully with only a small number of volunteers.
Jacky’s role has enabled us to gain Clubmark Accreditation as well as achieving re-accreditation, due to her managing and maintain the documentation and systems we need to continue to be a well run club. In addition to this role, she is very effective as Club Welfare officer, always challenging our processes and controls to ensure juniors are looked after correctly.
Last year she also took on role of Treasurer and has managed the club finances effectively. In addition she represents the club at Dover Seasports Centre facility and operational meetings to ensure the best interests of the club and sport are brought to the fore in the new facility which will be completed later this year.
Jacky helps out with coaching at our junior sessions; supports events we run for the local community (junior regatta’s regional camps taster sessions); and promotes the club within the local community. We would find it very difficult to run a small community club without the help of Jacky – she shows that for a club to succeed you need hard working people behind the scenes, and she should be recognised for all the hard work she puts into running the club, the extent of which is not always recognised by members.
