Sad news of the death of Margaret Marshall

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Margaret Marshall on Thursday 8th March 2012.

Margaret was a member of Derwent Rowing Club, and a long-time supporter of provincial and national rowing in the UK.

She won the British Rowing (then ARA) Medal of Honour in 1989, in recognition of her dedication to the sport.

‘Margaret was a stalwart volunteer who, with her husband Bill, played an important role at so many of the major events and international regattas held at the NWSC Holme Pierrepont,’ said British Rowing Chairman Di Ellis.

‘She will be greatly missed, especially on the regatta scene where she was known to so many in the sport right across the UK.’

Margaret’s funeral will be on Monday 26th at 14:45 at Markeaton Crematorium Derby. The wake will be at Derby RC afterwards.
