Great Britain took home eight gold medals as they topped the Coupe de la Jeunesse points table this weekend in Hazewinkel, Belgium.

Twelve of the 13 British crews competing took home at least one medal from their two races over the weekend, with the men’s coxed four, men’s four and women’s four racing to gold on both Saturday and Sunday.

The women’s eight started proceedings on Friday with a fine silver medal, with ten more medals won on Saturday. The men’s eight rounded off proceedings on Sunday with gold, adding to their bronze from the previous day, to take GB’s medal tally to 22.

These results propelled GB to a 59-point lead at the top of the points table ahead of Italy in a repeat of the top two from 2016. Both the men and women topped their individual rankings, with the men leading Italy by 23 points and the women topping France by 28.

GB also took wins in the reserves races, with two first place finishes in the men’s single scull, and a gold and silver in the women’s single.

The next event for the GB Junior team is the World Rowing Junior Championships in Trakai, Lithuania, between 2-6 August. Keep abreast of all the action on the British Rowing website and social media.
