Five crews progress to A finals on second day of U23 World Championships
Six GB crews have now qualified for the A finals of the U23 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida
The men’s eight led their heat from start to finish to qualify for their A final. The crew, of Henry Blois-Brooke, Harvey Kay, Callum Sullivan, Matthew Rowe, David Bewicke-Copley, Leonard Jenkins, William Stewart, Felix Drinkall and Vlad Saigau, were the fastest across both heats, seeing themselves safely through to Sunday’s final.
The men’s coxed four of Henry Jones, Oscar Lindsay, Casper Woods, Cormac Molloy and Scott Cockle finished first in their repechage to progress through to their A final. In a closely contested race, with only five seconds separating the first and last boats, the crew took the lead at the 1500m mark and held on to take the win.
In the women’s quadruple sculls, GB’s Lola Anderson, Ella Toa, Molly Harding and Lucy Glover led their repechage from start to finish to qualify for their A final, as did Lydia Currie, Hope Cessford, Lauren Irwin and Alex Rankin in the women’s four.
James Snowball and Rufus Biggs finished second in their repechage to qualify for the A final of the men’s pair.
