Third place for Great Britain in 2019 SH Netz Cup
Great Britain finished third in this unique 12.7km race on Sunday on the Kiel Canal in Rendsburg, Germany against Germany, Netherlands and USA
The crew, coached by Harry Bailhache Webb, contained a mixture of senior squad athletes Will Satch, Adam Neill and Alan Sinclair; up and coming rowers such as Charlie Elwes, fresh from his success at winning gold at the U23 World Championships; and Sam Nunn, Oliver Wilkes, Henry Swarbrick, Michael Glover and cox Harry Brightmore from 2019’s domestically unbeaten Oxford Brookes crew.
The crew held their own well in the early stages of the race but could not keep with the pace of Germany and the Netherlands who were fresh from their respective World Championships campaigns in Linz, Austria the previous weekend. However, the GB crew comfortably had the measure of the USA crew from early in the race and finished about 30 seconds behind the winners Germany.
