With each of the 60 races today being a final, event rankings and gold medals were all up for grabs and led to a whole host of nail-biting races throughout the day.
Particular highlights included Val Coleman adding a British record to yesterday’s world record with a time of 03:09.8 in the 90-94 women’s 500m race, whilst Greece’s Georgia Peramatzi added the 40-49 women’s 500m crown to her 2000m gold medal from yesterday. Italy’s Carlo Fabio Calcagni and Great Britain’s Lucy Holt and Chris Anslow also had perfect weekends, winning their respective adaptive 500m races after their victories over 2000m on Saturday.
In junior events Teddy Gannon also completed a fantastic double over the weekend, securing top spot in the Year 9 boys’ 500m race after his win yesterday in the Year 9 boys’ 4 minute race. Ross Rowing Club’s Yasmin Howe had a similarly dominant weekend, completing the double of Year 10 girls’ 500 metre and Year 10 girls’ 5 minute race over the two days, while Emily Downing also topped the podium twice today in the Year 9 girls’ 5 minute race and Year 9 girls’ 500m race.
Today also saw the hugely entertaining and frenetic relay races take place, with teams competing across men’s, women’s, mixed, adaptive and junior events. A team from the Invictus Games Foundation took gold in the adaptive relay, whilst Trentham Boat Club finished top of both the junior girls’ and junior boys’ relays.
