In the world of Clean Sport, two major changes are coming on 1 January 2021. Catch up on the latest news on anti-doping, policies and welfare guidance below.
Clean Sport
The World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List for athletes is an important part of clean sport, with the updated List coming into effect on 1 January 2021. You can view the changes here.
Additional to this, the 2021 World Anti-Doping Code is also going live on 1 January. UK Anti-Doping has summarised the key changes for us, making it easier for athletes and their support personnel to get up to speed before 1 January 2021.

As part of the new WADA 2021 World Anti-Doping Code, a ban from sport can be extended by an additional two years in certain circumstances.
From 1 January 2021, threatening, intimidating or retaliating against anyone sharing information about doping could result in a lifetime ban from sport.
WADA’s new Athlete Anti-Doping Rights Act was created so athletes’ rights are clearly accessible and understood by athletes and those who work with them.
We will be updating our education for 2021 and information about how to access this will be available in due course.
Anti-Doping Survey – Leeds Beckett University
A team of researchers at Leeds Beckett University are carrying out an online survey. They would like coaches representing a range of nations, sports, levels of competition, ages, experience, qualification levels and status (i.e., part-time/full-time, volunteer/paid) to complete it. The findings will help understanding of coaches’ anti-doping behaviour and the factors that influence it.
Participation is entirely voluntary, but your support would be valued!

Policies
We have provided a model Vexatious Complaints policy that Clubs or Events can choose to adopt. Adopting a vexatious complaints policy enables a club or event to deal with problems that arise if a decision your club has made is not accepted and persistently contested, or someone refuses to follow any procedures for grievances whilst insisting their concerns are addressed. You can find this model under ‘Discipline’ here.
Welfare
The Ann Craft Trust have recently released some new safeguarding adults in sport e-learning courses, if these are of interest you can find them and more information here.
The Club Welfare Officer December Newsletter was emailed out on 7 December – don’t forget if you are a CWO to make sure this information is up to date on ClubHub, so that you receive the newsletter! We will also be sharing information about weekly drop-in sessions for CWO’s with our Safeguarding Officer Tom Ramsell.
