Following an extensive review by the Organising Committee, the format of this year’s competition has now been confirmed.

As a national championships, the competition will look to provide high quality racing for masters rowers in a full day of racing.

Whilst the competition has previously offered “non-championship” categories, these will no longer be offered. On the same weekend, there is a wealth of domestic regattas including the large two-day regattas in Reading Amateur and Durham. Competitors who may have considered racing in the “non-championship” categories are encouraged to consider the racing opportunities at these regional competitions.

Speaking on the changes for this year, Organising Committee Chairman Christopher Anton said “The Committee has given a lot of thought to these changes and they are not decisions that have been taken lightly. We are keen to continue to provide a high standard of racing for the best masters crews in the country whilst encouraging other masters crews to support local regattas.”

Subject to entries, we expect to see racing from approximately 09:00 to 19:00 and the timetable of racing will be arranged to enable competitors to double-up within the day. Competitors will be able to train on the lake at the National Sports Centre on Saturday 10 June if they wish; this should be booked and paid for directly with the NWSC.

Entries for this year’s British Rowing Masters Championships will open on Friday 31 March 2023.
