Henley Masters Regatta ready to welcome competitors from 12 countries this weekend
The 2023 Henley Masters Regatta will be held on Friday and Saturday 7-8 July on a 1,000m section of the Henley Royal Regatta course
Henley Masters Regatta seeks to provide masters rowers and scullers the opportunity to race competitively, side by side on the world-famous Henley course, with a friendly and welcoming bank side experience for competitors, their supporters, and other spectators.
Entries have again been oversubscribed, and this year the regatta is able to boast 1,240 competitors from 170 clubs. Both the number of competitors and accepted crew entries are greater than last year and are more than enough to pack two full days of racing.
Competitors’ ages range from 16 to 84 years. (Note: Coxes can compete under the ‘Masters A’ minimum age of 27 years). The entry this year includes competitors from 12 countries: Great Britain, Ireland, France, USA, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand and Austria.
This diverse entry represents an excellent array of rowing and sculling experience and promises to deliver two days of enjoyable, high-quality racing from the ‘Masters’ of the sport, who compete to win a medal in the now world-famous purple boxes.
Racing takes place over a 1,000m course starting just above Temple Island and finishing at Upper Thames RC. There are races every 4 minutes starting at 9am on Friday with crews progressing through their events to the finals on Saturday afternoon.
The prizes will be presented by the Mayor of Henley Kellie Hinton, Olympic Gold medalist Andy Triggs Hodge, Upper Thames RC President Paul Stuart-Bennett and Catherine McLaughlin.
Supporters and spectators are most welcome to come along and enjoy the racing from the riverbank – no tickets required. In addition, you can watch the regatta online via pay per view live streaming for the first time.
