The Boat Race Company Ltd is excited to announce that Sunday, 13 April 2025 will be the date when Oxford and Cambridge will return to the famous Championship Course, stretching over 4.25 miles of tidal Thames in west London between Putney and Mortlake, for The Boat Race 2025.

First raced by crews from Oxford and Cambridge University in 1829, the 79th Women’s Race will take place at 13:21 and the 170th Men’s Race will take place at 14:21.

Following wins by Cambridge in both races in 2024, the records currently stand as 87-81 in the favour of Cambridge Men and 48-30 in the favour of Cambridge Women and, as always, we can expect fierce racing in 2025 as Oxford seek to reverse their recent fortune.

When London’s Party on the River returns to the Championship Course in 2025, the Boat Race Company Ltd will be looking to build on the success of The Boat Race 2024 and some of the improvements that helped make it such a draw for spectators.

With thousands more spectators estimated to have been on the bank in 2024 the enhanced Fulham Fan Zone, utilising the fantastic new facilities beneath Fulham Football Club’s Riverside Stand, proved to be a big hit with spectators who were able to enjoy a family friendly experience with food, drink and entertainment as well as interact with our partners and sponsors. And a new hospitality offering at London Rowing Club also became a pull for supporters looking to experience something a bit more special.

Siobhan Cassidy, Chair of the Boat Race Company Ltd, said, “The Boat Race 2024 was a success due to the support and collaboration with our stakeholders and showed how much enthusiasm and passion London has for the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. The event remains a key British sporting occasion with a global audience and the display of sporting excellence and sheer grit delivered two exciting races in 2024.

“The crowds along the riverbanks picked their Blue, cheered their crews, and enjoyed a race spectacle through London. The coverage this year from BBC Sport captured the history and heritage of this event, the intense rivalry, and the highly competitive nature of this unique sporting occasion.

“We look ahead to the 2025 race; we are committed to welcoming even more fans in 2025 and to delivering another amazing chapter in the 200-year Boat Race history in April 2025.”
