The Big Row 2024 is bigger than ever!

British Rowing’s charitable foundation, Love Rowing, is challenging rowers everywhere to help ‘row to Los Angeles’ – the venue for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games – from 5-8 September

Starting in the final week of the Paralympic Games in Paris, we will cover a total distance of 15,241 km, finishing in Los Angeles, the host city of the next Olympics and Paralympics, which take place in 2028.

This fun challenge is for the whole rowing community, whether you row on land or water, solo or in a crew or team. The Big Row is a perfect fundraising event for individuals, businesses, schools, colleges, universities and rowing clubs. And the timing makes it an ideal way to kick-start the new season’s training in clubs.

Love Rowing aims to raise £60,000 to support inclusive and accessible rowing projects across the UK. This will help get more young people from deprived communities and disabled people involved in rowing, changing lives for the better.

Follow these 4 steps to get involved!

  1. Register here
  2. Pledge your distance: Choose how much you or your ‘crew’ want to row
  3. Get sponsors: Rally support from friends, family, and colleagues
  4. Row any time: Between 5-8 September, row whenever and wherever suits you – at home, work, school, rowing clubs, or leisure centres.

Participating British Rowing-affiliated rowing clubs who raise more than £500 through The Big Row will be able to apply to Love Rowing for an Inclusive Club Grant to receive up to 50% back to assist them to make their own clubs and activities more inclusive and accessible.

The Big Row will also be the charitable partner of the Great British Rowing Weekend, a nationwide event over the weekend of the 7 and 8 September where clubs will open their doors to their local communities to show off the best our sport has to offer.
