GB J16s deliver impressive performance against France
The youngest GB Rowing Team pathway squad won 10 of their 14 races at the 42nd GB v France match, which took place on Saturday, 13 July 2024 in Léry-Poses, near Rouen
GB won four out of the seven Women’s races and six out of the seven Men’s races.
The 56-strong GB team was made up of crews from 15 different programmes, from George Watson’s College in Edinburgh to Shanklin Sandown RC on the Isle of Wight.
Team Manager Tim Liversage said, “Congratulations to all J16 rowers for winning all three trophies this weekend! After some brilliant results by Team GB in some incredibly close racing in the formal event, the new format saw sprint races over 500m in mixed nation and mixed men’s and women’s crews. This is brilliant addition to the programme, and was much enjoyed by all. Special thanks to our hosts France and Maxine for putting on a spectacular event.”
GB and France take turns in hosting the event. Next year the GB v France match returns to GB, and will take place at London Docklands.
