British Rowing launches ‘Super Sprint Sunday’ as part of December’s Indoor Championships!
Entries are now open for a brand new sprint indoor rowing competition, which will run on 8 December 2024 in an exciting new addition to the British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC) weekend
Super Sprint Sunday will offer the ultimate short-distance racing challenge, with athletes competing across six brand new challenges. British Super Sprint Champions will be crowned as rowers take aim at Concept2 World Records in the 1-minute sprint, 100 metres, or 1000 metres.
Held as part of the British Rowing Indoor Championships at FitFest 2024 at The NEC in Birmingham on Sunday, 8 December 2024, Super Sprint Sunday will give athletes the opportunity to race on both days of the weekend, adding to the 2000m and 500m events set to run on Saturday.
Supported by Concept2, the action-packed competition will challenge rowers with a series of short, intense challenges, with event entry starting at just £6. Participants can enter one or multiple of Sunday’s sprint challenges:
- 1-minute sprint
- 100m sprint
- 250m sprint
- 1000m
- The Elimination Race
- The Super Sprint Surprise Challenge
Be sure to enter quickly to secure your spot – only 100 race slots are available per challenge!
The following categories are available within each challenge:
- Open/Female (aged 18+)
- Masters 1 (aged 30-59) Open/Female
- Masters 2 (aged 60+) Open/Female
- Adaptive Open/Female
- Junior 1 (aged 11-14) Open/Female
- Junior 2 (aged 15-18) Open/Female
- Team Pairs (aged 18+) (for 1000m and the Elimination Race) Open/Female.
Each winner will become the British Super Sprint Champion for their challenge category.
Clubs and indoor rowing teams can also compete for the Super Sprint Victor Ludorum, which will be awarded to the team with the most event wins or places.
