Minister unveils plans for new Water (Special Measures) Bill
The Government’s new Water (special measures) Bill was announced by the Secretary of State for Defra, Steve Reed OBE MP on 5 September at Thames RC. The Clean Water Sports Alliance, which includes British Rowing, welcomed the announcement.
3 actions for September
1. Take part in The Big River Watch (6-12 September)
The Big River Watch is a ‘citizen science’ observational study of river health organised twice a year by our partner, The Rivers Trust. Once you’ve downloaded the free app, it will only take you 10 minutes to do!
2. Take part in The Great UK WaterBlitz (20-23 September)
The Great UK WaterBlitz is a similar biannual initiative that calls for volunteers to go out and test the quality of their local freshwater body. We encourage all clubs to take part. All you need to do is register to obtain your phosphate and nitrate testing kit so that you can test your local waters and upload your data to help build the case for focused action.
3. Get 10% off eco-friendly cleaning products
Don’t forget that all members of the rowing community can get 10% off at Delphis Eco – the UK’s leading eco-friendly cleaning products brand – by using the code CLEANRIVERS.
Thriving Waters Scheme
British Rowing’s Thriving Waters Scheme closed for applications on 1 September. Thanky ou to everyone who submitted a project – we are extremely pleased with the proposals sent in. Those who have applied have been contacted with next steps.
