Athletes representing 33 nationalities are preparing to compete at the British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC), which returns to the NEC in Birmingham on Saturday, 7 December 2024.

Building on the success of last year, BRIC 2024 will once again be immersed in the wider competitive fitness scene. Running as part of FitFest, ‘The Greatest Competitive Fitness Expo’, the venue will host 15,000 fitness enthusiasts as part of five fitness competitions, from the England Weightlifting Championships to obstacle course racing. All athletes competing at BRIC 2024 will be able to watch multiple other events and competitions for free.

Competitors of all ages and abilities will race across 178 categories, showcasing the breadth of talent throughout the indoor rowing community. Competitors will range from the youngest at 11 years old to the oldest, a remarkable 87-year-old member of indoor rowing club Cool Rowings.

BRIC 2024 also marks a record-breaking year for the adaptive rowing community, with the largest entry recorded for the Championships. With a strong showing of 22 in 2023, the Invictus Games Team are set to have 60 incredible athletes set to take to the floor in 2024.

Amongst all the action will be the GB Rowing Team, including Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic champions. The star-studded line up is set to feature Team GB women’s quadruple sculls gold medalist Lauren Henry, Paralympics GB PR1 men’s single sculls gold medalist Benjamin Pritchard and members of the GB Rowing Team Project LA squad.

The excitement extends into Super Sprint Sunday on 8 December, offering competitors the chance to race on both days of the weekend. This new sprint-style competition will feature 100m, 250m, and 1000m sprints, as well as The Elimination Race and a Surprise Challenge. With just 100 spaces available per challenge, those eager to experience the adrenaline of fast-paced racing can enter for just £6!
