Maddie Arlett is a lightweight sculler.

She came to prominence as part of the ‘baby blue army’ at Edinburgh University, including breaking the Henley Women’s Regatta record for Championship Lightweight Single Sculls, set by Sue Appelboom 25 years earlier, when she won the event in 2017.

Maddie was first selected to row for GB at U23 level, finishing fourth in the lightweight quad in 2015 and sixth in the same event in 2017 at the World Rowing Championships.

In her first senior season, 2017, she medalled at two World Cup regattas, before finishing fifth in the lightweight quad at the World Championships, a  Worlds result she repeated in 2018.

In 2019, Maddie won bronze in the lightweight single scull at the World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria, and finished fifth in the same event at the European Championships in 2021.

Her 2022 season started well with gold medals in the lightweight double sculls at World Cups I and III with Emily Craig, but she had to withdraw through illness at the European Championships, where she was racing in the lightweight single sculls.
