Sholto Carnegie

Growing up in Oxford, Sholto was never far away from water. After seeing Oxford college students rowing while on a family walk, Sholto, aged 12, decided to try his hand at rowing.

Starting at City of Oxford Rowing Club, he immediately fell in love with the competitive nature of the sport. He loved the feeling of pushing off from the riverbank and leaving all his worries behind, allowing him to purely focus on making the boat go fast.

Sholto completed his undergraduate degree at Yale University, where he rowed alongside fellow GB athletes Charlie Elwes, Tom Digby and Ollie Wynne-Griffith. He was part of a successful team where they won the National Championship for the first time in the school’s history.

Sholto particularly enjoys the team aspect of rowing. He competed at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics and currently sits in the middle of the GB men’s eight, winning back-to-back World Championships in 2022 and 2023.

At the Paris 2024 Olympic Rowing Regatta, Sholto won gold in the Men’s eight in superb style.

Outside of rowing, Sholto runs a college advising business called Crew Connection, which helps student athletes gain admission to top U.S. rowing universities by providing bespoke advice and support.
