Roaring success at City of Exeter Regatta

Saturday 13th July saw over 600 competitors converge on Exeter Quay for the annual City of Exeter Regatta. With more than 150 events, the 2013 Regatta was the biggest edition of the event for a decade.

The day saw large crowds enjoying the Mediterranean weather and cheering on the competitors.

“This year there were even more junior rowers and scullers competing in some hotly contested races,” said Exeter Regatta Chairman Paul Wilson. “Ensuring great competition for rowers as young as 12 means that there continues to be a huge pool of talent reaching towards the national squads.”

Exeter Rowing Club won the Victor Ludorum cup, as the most successful club on the day, and the points for the championship races will go towards the West of England Rowing Association Championship.

“We are now looking forward to 2014,” Wilson added, “which will be a special event celebrating the 150th anniversary of Exeter Rowing Club and the Regatta.”

More information about anniversary activities will be available on the Rowing Club and regatta web sites, www.exeterrowingclub.com and www.exeter-regatta.co.uk.
