Glasgow University – Performance Rowing Coach

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the University of Glasgow for an experienced and ambitious coach to lead the rowing programme, one of the most active and successful clubs within the university and a Scottish Rowing performance partner programme.

The Performance Rowing Coach will operate as the Head Coach for Glasgow University Boat Club (GUBC), managing a coaching team including a full-time Development Coach and a team of volunteer coaches.

GUBC has enjoyed an excellent season domestically and internationally with student rowers gaining representation for the Scotland Rowing Team at the Home International Rowing Regatta in London and the Beach Sprints in St Andrews, whilst Maia Hely won a bronze medal representing the GB Rowing Team at the European Rowing Under 23 Championships in Belgium.

The rowing programme at Glasgow University has a strong history dating back over 150 years to 1867 and we are seeking someone who can build a thriving club at all levels which can compete as one of the leading institutions in the country and create opportunities for student rowers to achieve their potential in the sport.

This role will suit you if you are a team player, have strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others. The role would potentially suit an experienced assistant coach from an established programme who is looking for an opportunity to step up and lead their own rowing programme.

In return you will get the opportunity to live in Scotland’s largest city, work at one of the top 100 universities in the world and receive a competitive salary and benefits package. You will also benefit from a strong support network through both the university and Scottish Rowing and will receive valuable input to ensure that you continue to develop your coaching skills.

For more information and to apply please visit the following page under ‘Current Vacancies’.

Coaches who would like to have an informal conversation about the role prior to application are welcome to make contact with Keith Joss, University of Glasgow Head of Service Development, Sport([email protected]) or Lee Boucher, Scottish Rowing Head of Performance Pathway ([email protected]) to arrange a time for a call.
