Olympic Pathway
The ‘Olympic Pathway’ is made up of a series of programmes, which identify and develop individuals with the potential to become the GB Olympic rowers of the future
Typically an individual’s journey from first stroke to Olympic podium could be anywhere between four and 12 years. So it’s important that they get support along the way, not only to provide them with the skills and experiences required to be part of the GB Rowing team in the future, but also to develop wider skills which can be used outside of the sport for those who aren’t successful in making it all the way to the Olympic team.
The Olympic Pathway comprises the following programmes:

Teams and Transitions
Our Teams and Transitions programme is responsible for providing high quality racing opportunities and experiences for individuals with the potential to develop as GB Olympic rowers of the future
Performance Development Academies
Our GB Performance Development Academies identify, recruit and develop individuals with no prior rowing experience to become Olympic rowers
High Performance Academies
There are eight GB High Performance Academies based at clubs and universities in England and Scotland
Athlete Development Pathway
The Athlete Development Pathway comprises a number of programmes run by British Rowing, Scottish Rowing and Welsh Rowing, designed to provide development and education opportunities for aspiring GB Rowing Team athletes

The GB Rowing Team Olympic Pathway is supported by a team of staff and an annual programme of activities.
Olympic and Paralympic funding
The programmes and activity which make up our Olympic and Paralympic Pathways are made possible through the support of our funding partners UK Sport alongside our Home Nations partners Sport England (supporting pathway programmes delivered by British Rowing), Sport Scotland (supporting pathway programmes delivered by Scottish Rowing) and Sport Wales (supporting pathway programmes delivered by Welsh Rowing).
