GB team announced for 2023 Munich International Junior Regatta
30 junior athletes and 10 support staff, many of whom are volunteers, will be heading to the Munich International Junior Regatta taking place at the Olympic Regatta Centre from 6-7 May 2023
The athletes will be donning GB vests, many for the first time, to race across the two days in different boat combinations, allowing them to gain as much international racing experience as possible at the event.
John Layng, U19 Team Manager at British Rowing said: “”It is exciting to see rowers from such a wide range of schools and clubs be selected to race for Great Britain in Munich. It is a credit to their home clubs, schools, parents and coaches for their support which is enabling them to participate at this important race. The experience that they will gain from racing the top level European crews will be important in fuelling their future international aspirations.”
Peter Sheppard, GB Rowing Team Head Coach for the Olympic Pathway added: “Munich Junior Regatta provides GB with its first international racing opportunity for our leading U19 rowers in 2023 to measure their standard against some of the leading nations in Europe. Results at this regatta can help drive the strategy for our World Rowing U19 Championships team formation later in the summer.”
