Oxford University Women’s Lightweight Rowing Club (OUWLRC) – Head Coach

Oxford University Women’s Lightweight Rowing Club (OUWLRC) seeks to appoint a full-time Head Coach. The Head Coach will take overall leadership of the club’s rowing programme, including designing and implementing training and racing plans, water and land-based coaching, and club administration. The Head Coach will be expected to coordinate with coaching staff across Oxford University boat clubs (OUBC, OUWBC, OULRC), with staff in the university’s sports federation, and to work collaboratively with other sport professionals (e.g., nutritionists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports psychology, etc.) to support holistic athlete development. We seek a candidate with high technical coaching ability, knowledge and experience of modern coaching methods and physiology (including lightweight rowing), commitment to athlete development, and a sensitivity to the academic setting. Candidates with demonstrated expertise in long-course tidal river racing are especially encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

  • Experience developing and implementing performance rowing programmes
  • Track-record of competitive coaching results in side-by-side or multi-lane regattas
  • Full UK driving license or international equivalent

Desirable (if not held, must be obtained while in post):

  • RYA Level 2 powerboat license
  • Trailer towing experience

About OUWLRC: Founded in 1984, the club prepares an eight to race Cambridge in the Lightweight Women’s Boat Race. The club regularly fields crews to race at WEHORR, British Universities Championships, and periodically the European Universities Championships and national team trials (sweep and sculling). OUWLRC’s mission is to win the Boat Race and to promote the sport of Lightweight Rowing.
