Scottish Rowing – Sports Programme Co-Ordinator

This is a new role that will provide high-quality support to the Performance and Pathways team and associated programme activity. This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of Scotland’s leading Olympic and Commonwealth sports especially as we build towards preparing a team for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Australia.

This role will suit a self-starter, someone with strong organisational, analytical and administrative skills who is an excellent communicator, both verbally and written. Previous experience of working with budgets and financial processes would be advantageous.

The post will play a pivotal role in the planning, implementation and ongoing delivery of Performance and Pathways programme activity building strong working relationships with colleagues, participants and partners.

Job Description

The Sports Programme Co-Ordinator will report to the Head of Performance and Pathways and will be responsible for developing and maintaining positive external relationships with:

  • Scottish Rowing member clubs.
  • Athletes, coaches and parents.
  • sportscotland including institute colleagues.
  • British Rowing.
  • Schools and universities.

Key Responsibilities

The Sports Programme Co-Ordinator will be central to the success of the Performance and Pathways team, responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining systems and processes to support the effective and efficient day-to-day running of the Performance and Pathways team.
  • Planning travel, accommodation, facility bookings and other logistics to support the delivery of associated programme activities.
  • Tracking, and being able to report against, all expenditure relating to Performance and Pathway team activity whilst supporting the Head of Performance and Pathways with the management of the department budget.
  • Managing the Performance and Pathways team calendar ensuring that key projects and events are diarised and deadlines are met, setting up and supporting meetings as appropriate and working with the Head of Performance and Pathways to forward plan.
  • Co-ordinating annual registration, selection processes and funding applications relating to Scottish Rowing programme activity e.g., Coach Registration Scheme, Performance Programme, SportsAid applications.
  • Providing ‘business intelligence’ to support decision making through the management and maintenance of relevant programme data.
  • Ensuring that all relevant Performance and Pathways programme activities are actively promoted including the production of content for website and social media channels as appropriate.
  • Producing key documents as appropriate including team circulars, briefing papers and reports for the Senior Management Team and Board.
  • Provide ‘on-the-ground’ team support at agreed events including camps and competitions.

Work collaboratively as part of the Performance and Pathways Team and support the Senior Management Team and other colleagues with the wider delivery of the Scottish Rowing Strategic Plan.

Promote a positive, collaborative, and supportive team culture which prioritises and supports good health and wellbeing.

Any other reasonable task that may be required by Scottish Rowing.

Location: Scottish Rowing Centre, Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, ML1 3ED. Potential for some home working. Role will involve occasional evening and weekend work.

Responsible To: Head of Performance and Pathways

Salary: £24,000

Type: Full-time, fixed term until end of March 2025 with the intention being to extend subject to funding.
