Lady Margaret Hall Boat Club (Oxford) – Women’s Rowing Coach

Lady Margaret Hall Boat Club (LMHBC) is looking for a Women’s Coach to work with our existing coach to train our novice and senior crews for the coming academic year (and beyond).

We’re looking for someone to work with our crews to build on the momentum of the last year, with our W1 reaching Div I in Torpids for the first time since 2004, whilst training up a new cohort of rowers to continue to strengthen our women’s side.

Responsibilities:

  • Water training: coaching senior and novice crews on the Isis 3-5 times a week (including morning and weekend sessions).
  • Land training: producing a land training programme for senior and novice crews during term-time.
  • Vacation training: producing fitness plans for over the vacation.
  • Assisting the captains and existing coach with crew selection.
  • Providing individual feedback for rower development.
  • Producing race plans.

Required Criteria:

  • Prior rowing, coxing or coaching experience.
  • Availability to coach 3-5 outings per week on the Isis, including weekday mornings (06.30-08.30) and weekend sessions, from 0th-8th week of Oxford Terms.
  • Willingness to coach a variety of skill levels, including complete beginners in Michaelmas Term.
  • Ability to provide helpful feedback to rowers and coxes.

Desirable criteria:

  • Prior coaching experience.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of coxing.
  • Availability to bankride crews during major Oxford Regattas (Torpids and Summer Eights).
  • Availability to attend external regattas entered by LMHBC.
  • Prior experience and understanding of Oxford college rowing.
  • Pay is negotiable depending on experience and commitment.
