Enable – Lead Junior Rowing Coach

Barn Elms boathouse are looking to take on a new coach to lead our junior rowing provision. At Barn Elms we specialise in recreational rowing sessions for both adult and juniors, as well as running a competitive junior squad and working with local schools.

The role is 20 hours a week, with flexibility to working hours however applicants must be available to work a minimum of two weekdays, and Saturdays.

Applicants must have a sound knowledge of rowing and sculling with good communication skills.

Level 2 coaching & RYA powerboat qualifications are preferable, but not essential.

Competitive pay rate depending on qualifications and experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead on delivery of the junior rowing programmes
  • Liaise with squad coaches to provide a link between recreational and racing programmes
  • Coach a variety of indoor and river-based sessions including adult and junior beginners, recreational adults, school sessions and junior competitive squad
  • Take bookings and make sure payments are made prior to any session the customer has booked
  • Reply to day to day enquires
  • Adhere to any daily operational schedules on site, contributing to the daily maintenance of the boathouse
  • Plan sessions to meet the level and aims of the rowers
  • Maintain records of attendance
  • Monitor and report on individual rowers’ progress
  • Deliver scheduled sessions and courses showing a clear developmental progression plan where required
  • Attend events and races where needed
  • Contribute to the development of our programmes and courses for groups and individuals
  • Check that all equipment is suitable for use and report this appropriately. Address any immediate issues where possible.

General

  • Work with your line manager to identify your own support needs and undertake continual personal and professional development.
  • Comply with Enable’s Codes of practice and conduct, including policies and procedures concerning data protection, health and safety and safeguarding
  • Be committed to the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion for others, both colleagues and clients
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where all people are treated with dignity and their identity and culture are valued and respected. Report any instances of inappropriate behaviour or discrimination
  • Ensure data is kept securely in line with data protection law and Enable LC’s procedures
  • Be fully aware of the principles of safeguarding as they apply to children and vulnerable adults in relation to your work role. Always follow safeguarding procedures and ensure that your line manager is kept fully informed of any safeguarding concerns.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities that contribute to the overall function of the team, appropriate with the grading of the post.
  • Assist with any duties, events or activities hosted by Enable.

Salary: £17,692 (£31,845) per year
