The European Rowing Beach Sprint Championships will be held as a joint event with the European Rowing Coastal Championships at the Brzezno Pier, next to the Energa Stadion Letini, Gdansk.

Having represented GB for the past two years in the mixed coxed quad, Jerry Owen (Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima RC) will be rowing solo in the men’s category (CM1x) this summer. Clare Jamison (Christchurch RC) will be returning to the women’s solo (CW1x) after making the quarter final at the World Championships in 2023, and winning silver alongside Charles Cousins in the coastal mixed doubles at the World Championships in 2022.

The tried and tested combination of Laura McKenzie (Glasgow University BC) and Sam Scrimgeour (Glasgow RC) will be back in the mixed double (CMix2x) hoping to build on last year’s World Championship silver medal.

The junior team is made up of a mixture of established coastal rowers – many of whom have represented their countries at Home International events in past years – and those new to the format.

Commenting on the team selection, Olympic Pathway Manager Tom Pattichis said: “Beach Sprints is constantly growing as a rowing discipline in the UK, and the more popular it becomes, the more talented rowers we see up for international selection. We’re looking forward to this first test against the other European nations ahead of the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals this September.”
