The Godolphin and Latymer School – Head of Rowing

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Head of Rowing. The successful candidate will have a passion for rowing and a proven track record of coaching.

They will be responsible for overseeing the development of our rowing teams, from beginners to advanced rowers, ensuring that all students are given opportunity to thrive in the sport. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, delivering the best possible club rowing experience for students and parents alike.

The Godolphin and Latymer Boat Club, currently based out of Kings’ boathouse, Barn Elms and Fulham Reach Boat Club, has grown significantly over the last few years and now delivers an outstanding programme. In equal measure, elite rowers are coached and expertly guided to perform at their highest level, whilst novices are encouraged and supported to pursue mastery and enjoyment of rowing. There is an incredibly warm atmosphere within the Boat Club and students are supportive of each other’s endeavours. The incoming Head of Rowing, responsible to the Director of Sport, will look to consolidate current strengths but also look strategically at the next 5 years at what is needed to further develop Godolphin and Latymer rowing in line with the approach of the wider sports department.

This role will require the post-holder to operate at a variety of locations including on the school site to liaise with the sports department, at the boat houses to oversee training and at regattas to support the students’ competitive endeavours. The number of hours contracted per week will be discussed at interview but is likely to be upwards of 30 hours per week (such that this is taken as a mean average across the year). The post holder must be available to accompany rowing trips and regattas.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

Salary: The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience
