Tideway Scullers School – Lead Senior Squad Coach

We are looking for an ambitious enthusiastic and collaborative senior squad coach with a passion for sculling and rowing. The successful applicant will also have the experience to support our ambitions and help lead the senior squad’s next steps to further success and creatively develop stronger links between our junior and senior squads.

Tideway Scullers School is an exciting high achieving club looking for a full time Lead Senior Squad Coach with an emphasis on performance to build on the existing strong foundations and further develop:

  • Our U23 University/aspiring athletes/gap year students full-time program
  • The Club senior squads
  • Collaborative coaching across all our squad programs.

We are looking for a coach with a track record of success as a senior coach who wants to develop and inspire a coaching team within Scullers that can produce future Olympians.

Job Detail

This role will involve supporting our athletes work towards their goals at all levels, oversee supporting coaches as needed and work collaboratively with our coaching team.

This will include:

  • Developing and implementing annual strategy for the Senior squads by identifying appropriate targets and events, performing crew preparation and selection reflexively relative to athletes each year.
  • Recruitment and retention in senior squad. Develop a proactive recruitment programme that attracts and retains athletes with a longer-term focus as well as current year results.
  • Athlete development. Supporting and coaching senior athletes to include Triallists and U23s (as well as senior club athletes) with a clear development pathway and appropriate communication, assessment, and support. Setting crews based on competitive goals, valuing assistant coach feedback, and providing positive athlete feedback.
  • Responsible for management of boats allocated to Senior group.
  • Responsible for safety and adherence to club and British Rowing rules and code of conduct.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate standards of behaviour as a senior representative of the club both on and off the water following British Rowing guidelines.
  • Manage day to day activities needed to enable coaching and rowing, inclusding launch fuel etc.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the profile of TSS and its athletes, placing an emphasis on the sculling opportunities at a club where all athletes are expected to single scull competently and competitively.

You will have a:

  • Full driving licence (with experience of towing rowing trailers)
  • Coaching qualification (minimum: UKCC Level 2 or international equivalent)
  • Launch driving qualification (RYA Powerboat Level 2 or international equivalent).

This full-time salaried position will offer remuneration relative to your experience and our ambition for you and all our athletes.
