British Rowing – Paralympic Head Coach

British Rowing is seeking an outstanding high performance coach to guide the future of its world-leading Paralympic Programme.

Great Britain have been the top performing nation at each of the previous three editions of the Paralympic Games (Paris 2024, Tokyo 2020, Rio 2016), with a combined tally of 8 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze across the 13 medals disciplines raced. Overall Great Britain has won more Paralympic Rowing Golds than all other nations combined with similar success at World Championship level where Great Britain boasts more World Champions than any other nation.

While experience of working with rowers with a disability is not a prerequisite, this role will suit an inquisitive leader with strong problem solving skills and the ability to work at an exceptional level with individual athletes.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate substantial experience developing medal winning crews, a proven ability to lead a high performance programme with distinction, and evidence of building a team culture with elite performance behaviours.

This opportunity will see the right individual join British Rowing’s team of World Class Head Coaches as attention turns to the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Paralympic Coaches with the complementary skills to deliver world class coaching and a daily training environment that supports the development of GBRT rowers throughout the pathway and within the NTC to be the best in the world.
  • Develop a training programme which draws on the expertise from specialists and enables athletes to develop the physical and technical standards required of gold medallists.
  • Together with the Director of Performance and PLT, critically review and analyse the senior and pathways programmes to ensure optimal strategy, structure, and performance.
  • Lead the day-to-day deployment of the support services assigned to the Paralympic programme and liaise with the Head of Performance Support to ensure impactful service delivery to the rowers that provides them with world class support.
  • Lead the development of specialist equipment (seating, prosthetics, orthotics) to maximise rower performance in consultation with available specialist support.
  • Lead the camps and competitions programme for the Paralympic programme.
