Coastal sculling set for an exciting season in 2025
The 2025 Coastal Sculling Competition Calendar has now been published, including extensions to the Four Nations Championship, and international racing opportunities
The 2025 Coastal Sculling Competition Calendar sees an increase in the number of events and racing opportunities for both the Endurance/Enduro and Beach Sprint formats. With competitions at local, regional, national and international levels in a wide range of locations across the UK and abroad, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re new to coastal sculling or an experienced competitor!
Here in the UK, key races include:
- The ‘Four Nations Championship’, which will now offer Enduro events as well as Beach Sprints
- The British Coastal Championships (previously known as the British Rowing Offshore Championships) on a new date, provisionally in Exmouth
- The British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships in Bournemouth
- GB Beach Sprint Team trial dates.
The various rounds of the Four Nations Championship will see racing in some of the best coastal locations across the country – from Jersey to Bournemouth and Swanage on the south coast, to Fishguard and Saundersfoot in Wales and St Andrews in Scotland.

International competitions: The road to LA – via Rio
Dates and locations for the European Rowing Coastal and Beach Sprint Championships – in Manavgat, Türkiye, and the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals – in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil have also now been confirmed. The choice of these stunning beaches for the first Championship events of the Olympiad on the road to beach sprint racing LA 2028 means that they are bound to see the very hottest competition.
The selection process for GB Beach Sprint teams and nomination/ranking policy for the European Rowing Coastal Club events has also just been published. Note that there will not be a World Rowing Coastal Championships in 2025.
British Rowing Olympic Pathway Manager Tom Pattichis said, “2025 will be a key year in the development of our Coastal Sculling strategy, as we begin our preparations for LA2028, as well as growing coastal sculling by introducing more people to the discipline and increasing competition opportunities.
