Linacre Boat Club, Oxford – Women’s head coach

Linacre Boat Club (LBC) is looking to recruit a new head coach for our women’s side for the 2024/25 academic year. We are seeking candidates with a proven coaching ability to lead our women’s side.

LBC is a friendly graduate club composed of members from Linacre and Nuffield colleges at the University of Oxford. We train on the Isis out of Linacre boathouse. As a graduate college, we train during vacation periods and term time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coach 3-5 water sessions per week
  • Coach land sessions (erg/tank) as needed
  • Provide clear, technical feedback to rowers and construct crew selections
  • Provide clear, technical feedback to coxes, aiding in their coxing development
  • Develop depth in our squad
  • Providing race plan guidance to crews
  • Commit to fostering a supportive and friendly environment for rowers and coxes.

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to create and execute training plans
  • Experience rowing or coaching at a competitive level
  • Knowledge of rigging/setting up boats to get the most out of a crew
  • Ability to cycle competently while bankriding outings
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and commitment to the club
  • A constructive attitude to collaborate with LBC captains, presidents, and other coaches, as well as excellent communication skills.

Desired Criteria

  • RYA2 powerboat license
  • X/S status cox or experience coxing on high-traffic water
  • Knowledge of Oxford Bumps racing and OURs
  • Experience rowing/coaching small boats and ability to help the club run small boat training over the summer
  • Availability to attend training camp during the Easter vacation.

Salary: Dependent on experience

Type: Outings typically occur at 06:30 AM and 8:00 AM with 3 to 5 sessions per week
