David Breen to join GB Rowing Team as Paralympic High Performance Coach

British Rowing has appointed David Breen as Paralympic High Performance Coach

David joins having spent the past six months coaching at Queenwood School in Sydney, Australia. Prior to this he worked at Rowing Ireland, coaching the para programme for two years, where he led the Irish PR2 Mixed Double Sculls to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

David joins the GB Rowing Team on the back of a stand out Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which saw Great Britain top the rowing medal table for the third Paralympic Games in a row. The team won three gold medals and one silver. He will work alongside Nicola Benavente, Paralympic Head Coach and the rest of the support team to continue to build and develop the athletes to drive continued World Championship and Paralympic Games success.

David said: “I am eager to immerse myself in this new role and dedicate myself fully to maintaining GB’s position at the pinnacle of Para rowing globally.”

GB Rowing Team Paralympic Head Coach, Nicola Benavente said: “David has solid experience of developing and managing pathway athletes from beginner rowers to world class athletes and joins us with a strong background in nutrition, sports science and athlete centered performance optimisation in rowing and other sports. I am looking forward to working with him as we build towards the 2028 LA Paralympic Games.”
