Lauren Henry

Lauren joined Leicester Rowing Club when she was 13. Her twin sister was already rowing there and enjoying it and she needed something to replace her Saturday morning theatre club which had stopped for the summer holidays.

She fell in love with the sport, never went back to the theatre club, and quickly worked her way through the junior and U23 ranks. She won the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials in 2023 at the age of 21 and was selected for the GB Women’s Quad which went on to take the British Record at the Varese World Cup and became World Champion in a stand-out race in Belgrade later that year.

Lauren is incredibly excited and honoured at the prospect of being selected to be part of Team GB at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She is inspired by her parents, who have supported her in every way they possibly could to get her to this level. Lauren is also inspired by the strong women who she trains with everyday, in particular the three girls in the quad with her last season, who taught her so much in her first senior season of racing and made the project such a special one!

She is extremely grateful to have been coached by three wonderful coaches, Andrew Randell, Peter Sheppard and Howard Marsh who have helped shape her into the athlete and person she is today.

At Paris 2024, Lauren won GB’s first ever Olympic gold medal in the Women’s quadruple sculls – with crewmates Georgie Brayshaw, Lola Anderson and Hannah Scott – passing the Netherlands in the very last stroke of the race.
