Lucy Glover

Lucy’s grandfather won two boat races for Cambridge and her brother also competed as a junior so it was no surprise that, when she took her first strokes on the river Mersey at Warrington Rowing Club with around 30 other juniors as part of an after school rowing club, she fell in love with the sport.

She was supported by an army of volunteers from the ages of 13-18 and absolutely loved being on the water and part of the community. She got a taste for winning at a local regatta and then went on to win medals at junior, U23 and senior World Championships.

One of her favourite races was winning at the European Championships in Munich in 2022. Being selected for the Women’s Quad at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was also a career highlight. To this day, she is proud to say she’s never capsized a boat.

Lucy loves how rowing provides the perfect opportunity for her to improve every day and push herself to the limits. She is passionate about giving other state educated children, especially girls, the opportunity to access the sport of rowing because she knows what amazing opportunities it can provide. She is also an ambassador for Warrington Youth Rowing.
