Tom Pattichis
Olympic Head Coach - Beach Sprints

From his first role working as a scholarship coach (a scheme funded by the Henley Stewards Charitable Trust), Tom Pattichis held various coaching roles with British Rowing before moving to work with the senior team in 2018.
He moved to work as ‘Olympic Pathway Manager’ in 2022, and in 2024 also took on the role of Women’s Olympic Coach, which saw him coach the Women’s double sculls (W2x) of Mathilda Hodgkins Byrne and Becky Wilde to qualification at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta and onward to a brilliant bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
In early 2025, he was apopinted to the newly-created role of ‘Olympic Head Coach – Beach Sprints’ to guide the GB Rowing Team’s Beach Sprint Programme to Olympic success at LA 2028 and beyond.
On The Water
Tom started rowing as an undergraduate at Sussex University/Shoreham RC. He started coaching the following year when volunteers were needed to ‘coach’ the new intake of novices, saying: “As a rower it’s fair to say my ambitions vastly exceeded my abilities, so I found coaching was a good outlet where I could enjoy the sport and be competitive, without having to be very good at it myself.”
Beyond the Boat
Tom is married and currently lives in Henley. When asked, he pretends to like reading crime novels, visiting art galleries, long walks on the beach and socialising with his friends and family. But really it’s more rowing, and spreadsheets related to rowing.
