It was always a dream of Karen’s to go to the Olympics.
When she was younger she would always watch it on the television. Her parents got her involved in lots of different sports when she was growing up but she didn’t try rowing until she was 19. She applied for the Sporting Giants project – a talent ID search – and took her first strokes at Strathclyde Park.
Fast forward eight years to 2016 and Karen was competing at her first Olympic Games in Rio where she won a historic silver medal in the Women’s eight. She also competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the women’s coxless four.
Karen is an online fitness coach and mentor and is passionate about helping people to achieve their health and fitness goals. She is always looking to inspire the next generation and encourage anyone to be active and enjoy all that comes with it.
Karen earned selection for the women's eight in 2016, helping to secure Olympic silver and European gold in a historic season
