Molesey Boat Club – Foundation Coach

Reporting to: Junior Head Coach & Head Coach

The Foundation Coach will be responsible for the J14-J15 programme at MBC and the development of the top adult beginner athletes at MBC and University of Surrey.

Summary:
The foundation coach will develop Junior Beginners reporting to the Junior Head Coach, and adult beginners with the Senior Head Coach. The successful candidate will be strong in developing the technical and physical abilities of beginner athletes across the age spectrum, well organised and a proactive communicator.

Remuneration:
£18-24k depending on experience

Responsibilities:

  • Lead coach for J14-15 age groups:
  • Design of the programme with the Junior Head Coach
  • Outing planning, coordination of crews and selection
  • Proactively communicating with parents and dealing with inbound queries in a timely fashion
  • Recruitment of novice juniors through the club’s successful Learn to Row programmes
  • Outreach to local schools that do not have their own rowing programmes
  • Minor boat maintenance and rigging
  • Creating a fun, inclusive, but high performance ethos
  • Adult beginner coaching responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of a small group of athletes who have completed at least one year of rowing that have high performance potential, focusing principally on sculling, alongside their crew rowing commitments at MBC or University of Surrey
  • Target participation in GBRT trials and GBRT beginners training camps at Nottingham with a view to potential U23 selection in years 2+
  • Coaching of older junior athletes (J16-18), assisting the Junior Head Coach
  • Ensure that the club’s Safeguarding and Safety policies are adhered to whilst leading coached sessions.
  • Follow the GBRT technical model and What It Takes To Win Model (WITTW)

Qualifications:

● Experience of working in a club/university/school programme.
● Coaching qualification (minimum: UKCC Level 2 or international equivalent).
● Full driving licence (preferably with the ability to tow trailers).
● RYA Powerboat Level 2 or international equivalent (desirable)
● Educated to Degree level (desirable)
