Auriol Kensington Rowing Club – Men’s Squad Head Coach

Auriol Kensington is a West London rowing club with a rich history spanning 150 years. The club boasts a large active membership and aims to offer athletes across its four squads (men, women, masters, and development) the opportunity to race at all levels of club rowing.

We are looking for a Head Coach or Director of Rowing, depending on experience, with a focus on coaching the senior men’s squad supported by 1-2 assistant coaches, starting in September

The men’s squad has found success in recent years, qualifying for every Henley Royal since 2016 (with the exception of 2018) and has doubled in size over the past year, now sitting at 40+ active members. We have ambitions to build on a strong 22/23 season and this role would be an ideal fit for someone looking to commit to a club for the long term, potentially pushing us to become the most competitive tideway men’s squad west of Hammersmith Bridge.

Responsibilities include:

·         Coaching water sessions, bringing a high-level of technical focus to the squad

·         Leading the creation of both the land and water programmes, as well as determining the squad’s approach to the season

·         Taking a leading role in squad and crew selection for races, attending these in a coaching capacity, and assisting with preparation plus onsite coaching

·         Accompanying the club on their annual training camp in Spain (typically first week of May, TBC)

·         Staying up to date with training trends and British Rowing guidelines

What we’re offering:

·         A competitive part-time salary commensurate with experience

·         An exciting project for an experienced coach looking for a new challenge

·         All expenses covered for regattas/camps

The club is situated by Hammersmith Bridge, on a bustling part of the towpath, where crews boating have the option to make their way down to Putney or up to UL depending on the tide.

Applicants would ideally have experience coaching water sessions on the Tideway.
