Bedford School – 1st VIII Rowing Coach

Are you an experienced and passionate rowing coach looking for an opportunity to lead a high-performing school crew? Do you have the drive to develop young athletes and help them reach their full potential in national and international competitions?

Bedford School is seeking a 1st VIII Rowing Coach to lead and develop our top rowing squad, ensuring they compete at the highest possible level in events such as Schools’ Head of the River, National Schools’ Regatta, and Henley Royal Regatta.

You will work closely with the Director of Rowing to design and implement high-performance training programmes, combining technical, tactical, and physical development. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire, mentor, and shape the next generation of rowers while contributing to the broader success of our well-established rowing programme.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
