Bedford School – Graduate Rowing Teaching Assistant
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive Graduate Rowing/Teaching Assistant for a fixed period until 6 July 2024. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for experience of life in a school before a PGCE or equivalent, or those looking for employment after university.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a high level of rowing knowledge (either as a coach and/or through their experience as an athlete) and have the drive and enthusiasm to build on the recent accomplishments of the boat club. Candidates must also be willing to contribute fully to the life of the school, including PE lessons, evening duties, weekend events, fixtures, trips and coaching outside of term time, in light of this commitment, on site accommodation will also be provided.
- Coach Rowing groups as directed by Director of Rowingb (DoR).
- Assist the DoR with the administration for Rowing.
- In consultation with the DoR, manage and plan coaching sessions for specific year groups.
- Drive minibus to events.
- Assisting with the PE and co-curricular programmes in the Prep and Upper Schools.
- Assisting with evening duties for school boarding activities (e.g. sports hall etc.).
- Contributing fully to the life of the school, including weekend trips and fixtures.
- Participating in trips and training camps outside of term time.
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters.
- Supporting and contributing to the School’s responsibility for safeguarding pupils.
- Working within the School’s health and safety policy, to ensure a safe working environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Maintaining professional standards of attendance, punctuality and conduct with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Undertaking other duties as reasonably requested by the Director of Sport or other senior staff
