British Rowing – Almanack Editor (Volunteer)
British Rowing is seeking to appoint a new volunteer Editor for the British Rowing Almanack to shadow the current Editor for the 2025 edition and assume full responsibility from 2026
The British Rowing Almanack provides a comprehensive record of the results of affiliated and some other rowing competitions in Great Britain and of the GB Rowing Team, as well as the British Rowing Yearbook.
Its current volunteer Editor, Maggie Phillips, will be retiring after the 2025 edition after 15 years in the role. British Rowing wishes to appoint a new volunteer Editor to shadow her on the 2025 Almanack in preparation for taking full responsibility in 2026.
The Editor works closely with British Rowing staff, who are fully responsible for the British Rowing Yearbook section. British Rowing staff also produce the Competition and Club results from BROE as well as other key sections such as the calendars, annual reports, and obituaries. They also source photos. Artwork and printing is outsourced.
Work on the Almanack ramps up each Autumn and January to mid-March is the busiest period. During this time the Editor may spend an average of 20 hours a week on the Almanack.
Person specification
- A thorough understanding of and interest in domestic and international racing.
- A high standard of written English.
- Attention to detail.
- The ability to work collaboratively with British Rowing staff and contributors (who are primarily volunteers).
Terms
This is a volunteer role for which reasonable expenses would be paid (e.g. visiting the printers). A British Rowing laptop will be provided.
