British Rowing – Governance Programme Manager (Fixed term contract)
British Rowing is looking for a fixed term Governance Programme Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and experience, and help drive meaningful strategic and operational change, playing a key role in the implementation of a new governance structure at British Rowing. Responsibilities
- Lead the project management of a new governance framework, supporting the Governance and Integrity Lead in the implementation of new structures and the process in which they will operate.
- You will be responsible for coordinating and tracking the progress of key internal working groups to deliver the changes required.
- You will lead the review and drafting of British Rowing’s governing documents and policies that will underpin the changes to be made (such as the Corporate Governance Handbook and Articles of Association) to ensure they are fit for purpose and take account of relevant legal framework(s) and Code for Sports Governance requirements.
- Assist the Governance and Integrity Lead with the recruitment of new Committee and Panel members as well as their induction and ongoing
support. - Support the Governance and Integrity Lead with the planning of the annual work plans for each of the Committees and Panels, drafting the overarching schedule and associated agenda planners.
- Support a range of Committees and Panels, including their Executive leads to ensure that these have effective and efficient secretarial support and function in accordance with agreed internal and external standards, schedules and good practice.
- Review and redesign (where appropriate) key governance policies and processes to ensure we maximise efficiency and offer quality service to the business.
- Review, analyse and create governance records/data storage system, including access controls, audit trail and rules for ways of working.
- Support the Governance and Integrity Lead with the implementation of a new governance portal that will be procured and implemented as a discreet work stream.
Mandatory Requirements
- Demonstrable effective project management experience in a governance focused role.
- You will be someone with a clear understanding of corporate governance at a senior level and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of quality assurance and governance and how this can drive continuous improvement.
- You will be able to create strong project plans and a have an excellent working knowledge of project management frameworks.
- Be efficient in keeping detailed records and have established methods to report on progress and track success.
- Have the emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively with senior staff, Committee/Panel chairs and members, gaining their trust and confidence.
- You will be able to adapt to changes in direction and have excellent problem solving skills.
- You will be able to demonstrate sound judgement and decision making.
- You will have strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Must demonstrate the ability to research, collate, analyse and disseminate information clearly and in a timely manner.
- You will be a team player and be someone who enjoy managing a complex network of stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements
- Understanding of sport sector or not for profit organisations.

Location: Hammersmith, London/home.
