British Rowing Masters Championships – Volunteer Manager
This is an opportunity to gain some hands-on experience in the fields of sporting events organisation in the run up to and during the British Rowing Masters Championships
The Masters Championships is one of the largest regattas in the rowing calendar with up to 850 crews in recent years held over 2 days at Nottingham in the middle of June.
The Championship aims to provide racing for the best Masters crews (age 27+) in the county in all boat classes as well as provide a pathway for rowers who have taken up the sport in later years.
This is an opportunity to gain some hands-on experience in the fields of sporting events organisation in the run up to and during the British Rowing Masters Championships. The successful application will work with the BRMC Organising Committee made up of a mixture of volunteers and British Rowing staff and help in the coordination of the recruitment, placement and wellbeing of all volunteers during the event. The BRMC require approximately 60 volunteers to help run the event. This volunteer role is the ideal opportunity for a current student, a graduate or someone wishing to get involved in sports events.
No formal qualifications are required however applicants should have a positive approach,
excellent verbal communication skills and a belief in the importance of competitive sport.

Responsibilities
- Volunteer Recruitment – Support the BRMC Organising Committee and British Rowing staff in the sourcing of volunteer databases to recruit new volunteers for the even
- Volunteer Placement – Assist in scoping volunteer requirements for the event and placing volunteers in roles including people for stakeboat crew, people to help with registration, IT (including photo finish and timing), volunteer support, control commission, and setting up and clearing the cours
- Volunteer Communication – Assist with and ensure all volunteers are receiving regular communication with regards to their role on the event days
- Volunteer Welfare – On event days ensure all volunteers received food, water and are rotated on / off positions as required
Expenses
Although this is a voluntary role, reasonable expenses will be paid as per the British Rowing expenses policy, and accommodation provided during the event. The successful candidate must be available for the weekend of the Championships.
