British Rowing – Olympic Coaches (Expressions of Interest)
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the success of one of the world’s leading rowing nations as we continue our journey towards LA2028 and Brisbane 2032.
Please note, this is not an open job role. Rather, British Rowing is seeking expressions of interest for two high performance coaching roles within the GB Rowing Team’s Olympic Programme in advance of appointing permanent, full-time High Performance Coaching staff in October 2025 within the men’s and women’s Olympic squads.
Between now and then, there may be voluntary or short-term contract opportunities, depending on the availability and suitability of those expressing their interest.
We are looking for highly motivated and experienced coaches who can bring further technical expertise, innovation and leadership to our programmes while gaining experience working with the team at a World Cup, European Championships or as part of the preparations for the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai.
Please note that British Rowing is committed to building a diverse and inclusive coaching team and strongly encourages expressions of interest from women and underrepresented groups in high performance sport.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop athletes within the Olympic squad environment
- Implement world-class coaching methodologies and training programmes
- Support an aligned approach to rower development throughout the GB Rowing Team Olympic Pathway
- Collaborate with the wider GB Rowing Team staff to optimise performance
- Contribute to a high-performance culture focused on excellence and athlete development.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from coaches with:
- Proven experience and success at the elite level of rowing (international or high-performance domestic)
- A strong technical and tactical understanding of rowing at the highest level
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- A passion for developing athletes and achieving success on the world stage
- A desire to be part of the GB Rowing Team’s ‘One Team’ approach to success.
Location: Caversham.
Interested coaches are invited to send a CV and covering letter to [email protected] by 7 March 2025 to allow consideration for early season racing opportunities. This should cover your experience, what you believe you can bring to the GB Rowing Team and any availability to engage with the team ahead of October 2025.
For further information, coaches can also discuss these opportunities with the Olympic Head Coaches – Andrew Randell (Olympic Women), Paul Stannard (Olympic Men) and Peter Sheppard (Olympic Pathway).
A formal application and interview process for the permanent, full-time High Performance roles starting in October 2025, will follow in April/May 2025, which you will be welcome to also apply for.
Application Dates: From Wednesday 12th February 2025 to Friday 7th March 2025
