📣A bit about the role
You don’t need any prior knowledge of rowing, your principal purpose is to lead as the subject matter expert for safeguarding, and be accountable for instilling a positive safeguarding culture across the rowing community. You will manage the case team dealing with concerns about children and adults at risk, and ensure procedures are in place to safeguard children and adults at risk in British Rowing, closely liaising and supporting club welfare officers across the country. You will also work proactively with colleagues, coaches, officials and other key partners. You will lead on British Rowing’s Safeguarding Strategy and ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented and promoted.
You will ensure British Rowing safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented and promoted, as well as uphold best safeguarding practice across the rowing community. Your location in this role will be hybrid and consist both of working from home but you’ll also need to be able to travel from time to time to our Headquarters in Hammersmith, and to other rowing clubs across England.

👋 A bit about you
You will be able to take initiative, have excellent influencing and problem-solving skills. We would like you to be able to demonstrate that you have had experience working as a Lead Safeguarding Officer/ Designated Safeguarding Lead / Safeguarding Manager with case management and policy drafting experience. Given the nature of the area you will need to be well organised, be able to prioritise workload, and work under pressure.
