Christ Church, Oxford – College Boatperson & Assistant Rowing Coach

Wouldn’t you like to work in one of Oxford’s most beautiful and prestigious colleges? We do expect you to work flexibly, conscientiously and to be a team-player but, in return, we offer excellent benefits: pension, free access to gym/pool, meals on duty for those who work more than 6 hours per day, free staff events and a University Card which gives you access to a number of University venues.

If this appeals to you, we are seeking to appoint the following and would like to hear from you:

Full-Time College Boatperson & Assistant Rowing Coach Salary: £22,149 pa plus college benefits, Grade 3.3

Christ Church Boat Club provides rowing opportunities for the students, offering a mix of both ‘learn to row’ and competitive programmes. We have excellent facilities in our main boathouse, including a large heated workshop. The Senior crews also train from our satellite base at Sandford Lock just 3 miles outside Oxford.

This is a new role which arises as the Boat Club continues to grow and competes more widely. Operational support and facilities management remain at the core of this growth, alongside a focus on coaching and development. Combining the boatperson and coaching roles will strengthen our professional team, and the new boatperson can expect to work closely with the Head Coach. We are looking to deliver high quality coaching on and off the water, whilst we invest significantly in maintaining facilities and equipment at the highest standard.

We are looking for someone with the experience to do repairs who possesses a broad range of skills alongside keenness to develop. This is a chance for an organised, enthusiastic and forward-thinking person to become involved in the operations and development of a strong and well-resourced programme. Founded in 1817, Christ Church has one of Oxford University’s oldest boat clubs steeped in history and tradition. Strong alumni support, excellent coaching and dedicated athletes have enabled us to become more competitive as a club in recent years, and we are looking for someone to join us to further build our competitive edge in Oxford and beyond. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the postholder. 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with flexibility to work occasional weekends as and when required.

If you have what we are looking for or think you can develop some of the skills in-post, we would like to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all candidates. We particularly encourage applications from minority groups who are under-represented in the College.

Application form and full details available at: http://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/vacancies or contact Bridget Guiste: [email protected].

Application Dates: From Wednesday 17th August 2022 to Sunday 16th October 2022
