Curlew Rowing Club – Head Coach

Curlew RC is based in East London, founded in 1866. We are an ambitious, friendly, sweep focused club with around 80 active members. We are looking for a Head Coach to help build on our recent growth and join us on our 3-5 year journey to become a thriving, more successful club

About Curlew

The senior squads target Henley Royal and Henley Women’s Regattas in the summer and the major Thames Head races in winter. Our senior squad rowers are from a mix of backgrounds: those who have rowed since school, those who learned at university, and those who have progressed through our popular learn to row programmes and development squads. We have athletes early on in their rowing career through to those with international and national titles.

Our fleet is based at the London Regatta Centre, rowing on the Royal Albert Dock, a 2000m multi-lane stretch of water with a cycle path along the whole of one side of the dock. Our clubhouse and recently refurbished gym are on the banks of the Thames in Greenwich.

Senior athletes all follow a land and water-based training programme, overseen by the Head Coach and the Men’s and Women’s Captains. We typically have set training six days a week. Water sessions are Saturday and Sunday mornings throughout the year, with additional midweek sessions on the water when light permits in the spring, summer and autumn.
