Finance Committee Member – British Rowing (Volunteer)

British Rowing is seeking new members for its Finance Committee.

About the role

British Rowing is seeking new members for its Finance Committee. This is a voluntary role for an initial tenure of two terms of 4 years (which includes a 6 month probationary period) and individuals will join the Committee but not the main Board.

The Committee meets between 4-6 times a year and operates a hybrid arrangement with current members located diversely all over the UK. Prior Committee experience is not necessary, this is a good opportunity for someone who aspires to be involved in sports governance or board governance or would like longer term to be a non-executive director of a Board.

The Finance Committee’s principal purposes are to provide oversight and recommendations on financial and budgetary matters for the Board, to ensure that the Board is informed in advance of the financial consequences of future plans, to monitor financial performance, to monitor compliance with sponsorship arrangements with third-parties and to oversee the appropriate investment of British Rowing’s reserves.

About British Rowing

This is a great time to join British Rowing with lots of exciting opportunities ahead as we execute our new strategy which focuses on growth, members and the community. We aim to expand our membership across all regions and sections of the population with a particular focus on building communities and opening up the sport to everyone.

In addition we are actively pursuing new areas of the sport including the growth of indoor rowing and coastal rowing – having successfully held the World Coastal Championships in Wales in 2022. To do this we will be embracing digital in everything we do. British Rowing is also accountable for the GB Team who had a very positive performance in 2022, as part of their Olympic cycle planning for Paris 2024.
